I was curious as to how you could tell say aq-1 from a standard aquatica or like wise for other strains?
-
I have a supposed Big Medicine and AQ1 clone, and I do think they have a certain specificity to their morphology since they are genetically identical plants. But if I were handed any random potted phalaris, it would probably be very difficult to discern a difference.
Generally we must go on faith that the grower didn't allow any stray phalaris seeds to grow in place of the cultivar.
The only way to empirically test I think is chemical analysis like thin-layer chromatography

Yeah, I think arborescent is right. There's really no way to tell an AQ1 from any other Phalaris Aquatica except getting it from a reliable and honest source and testing content, which will vary based on growing conditions, time, season, etc anyway.
There's a good thread over the the DMT -Nexus about phalaris identification in general.

Alright, do you happen to have a link?

Im always concerned about random phalarsis seed getting in my patch and growing intertwined with my bigmed . . . I would never know

AcaciaAve is our resident Phalaris expert. Might want to send him a PM as I have not seen him around much lately.

Chimp-Z over at the Nexus is also quite knowledgeable. If it's his ID advice, I'd assume it's accurate.

Thanks, I appreciate it
