correct ph t. undulata and v. africana
« on: November 04, 2013, 12:46:14 PM »

I was trying to find online the correct soil requirements for these species but I couldn't find an exact answer. Do any of you guys know? My undulata are starting to get funked up new leaves...coming out distorted and whatnot. The leaves have always been yellowish too but other than the color fine until the last leaf set or two. The undulata still has its bottom most leaves though too. Now the africana has yellowed leaves too and has lost a few bottom leaves but the leaf loss may be just its growth or a deficiency of some sort. However it us busting out healthy looking leaves at the tip unlike the undulata. Something isn't right I think. I know they are both low light tolerant plants but they have been in my greenhouse since seedlings without issues until the leaf yellowing which has been a while now. The funky leaves on the undulata is fairly new in occurrence. What do you guys think I need to do? Thanks

Its been in the same spot since it was a seedling. I don't think so...but idk.

That is a V. africana

This one is a little worse off...it has aphids but I try and kill them every few days.

Looks like nitrogen deficiency to me. Uniform chlorosis starting with the lower leaves. What have you been feeding them?

It may just be that its not humid enough for it...Usually that's what crinkly leaves indicate ime.

It looks like it could be caused by spidermites as well. Any sign of the little buggers?

I use pee a lot as a weak fertilizer fairly regularly but occasionally use a store brand dry one called espoma plant tone. Sometimes foliar spray with thrive alive or ocean solution. From the reading I've been doing it seems onion may be right. I'll give a few variables a try. There is spider mites about but none on these that I can see just the toothache plant and Syrian Rue. There are a couple few aphids on the underside of the newer leaves though.
