Title: 1.5 litres PET bottles as vegetable pots.
Post by: Radium on August 19, 2015, 10:46:47 AM
Can I grow mature vegetables inside these kinds of bottles? They're narrow, but deep enough.
Aside from being super cheap and durable, they have other dandy features as well:
I can plant seeds inside them and close the cap to trap the moisture inside, and remove the cap once the seed germinates.

The only things which makes me worry are there narrow diameter (10 cm), and the clear transparent walls, which leaves the roots exposed to light and direct sun.

I spray painted a few and used them as hanging baskets along an otherwise ugly chainlink fence.  They grew flowers with no problems, I assume smaller vegetables like some peppers would work.
