A little help with identifying this cactus?
« on: November 09, 2019, 07:10:46 pm »

Hello,

To me it looks like a Trichocereus and I think its most probably a bridgessii or a peruvianus...can someone more experienced chime in?

Thanks!

I'm not 100 % sure, but it does seem like they share their root system. And yes, at the base there are two small pups - not sure if they are from the same cactus though. Here are some pictures of them too:

the two large columns are definitely Bridge or Bridge/Pach hybrid but strongly Bridesii

I ask if they share a root because I've recently seen that what I thought were two different species of cactii are in-fact just one but looked so different at different times in their lives, and over a few years

The final tip-off was that one pupped from the other and the two, mother and child, looked like two distinctly different types for a couple years, even though it was can't-miss obvious that one was a pup of the other.

So, I thought you might have the same thing there in those pics

Maybe a more knowledgeable cactiphile can tell you if those little things are the same as the tall ones.
