Not exactly a new idea, I have tried sterile plants in agar packed with a LED on top... in the end: Skip the lighting, adds complexity and doesnt do much, 4 days in the dark are not a problem.

Important was IMO insulation, crush protection, sterility and MS medium. Thats a lot of effort so it really depends on the plant you are shipping.

The thing is basically your average DIY solution + a pointless LED, I wouldnt pay for it, rather use tape, a pot and half a PET bottle for a quick and dirty approach.

Not exactly wanting to spoil all the fun, just saying its neither worth a patend, nor the $.

BubbleCat is right. I've sent cuttings many many times on a damp paper towel inside a plastic bag with no problem. The led is overkill and it only lasts 12 hours or so.

Yep, I've been sending plants this way for many years. I usually use a plastic soda or water bottle for the top and sour cream or yogurt container for the bottom. It's a little more ghetto, but works likes a charm. Agreed that the led is pretty much pointless, but I doubt if they could get a patent without it since that is what makes it unique. I was kinda surprised at how reasonable the price is.

Also, watching their video, it appears it incorporates a "white" LED, which does not produce any white light in the traditional sense, its "white" light is completely unsuitable for plants, besides the LED not even being powerfull.

If they temselves were serious about the LED they would have chosen a blue (450 nm) LED to stimulate chlorophyll b and thus vegetative growth, and keep the auxins flowing to prevent elongation.
