Ganoderma Lucidum-Bag o' Fun-gi
« on: May 11, 2015, 08:25:37 AM »

Recently inherited a few bags with the Reishi mushroom incubating inside.
I have never grown this particular mushroom thus far and hope to gain more experience with native fungi from my region.

My intuition is to cut slits over the fruiting bodies, hope I am still able to proceed further.

Any information my fellow seedians are able to channel into AcaciaAve's mind; please share!

yes, you want to cut slits in the bag but you'll have to keep the humidity up a bit.

In CO2 rich environments, you'll get "reishi antlers" which look like long coral pieces.

In O2 rich environments, you'll get full fruiting bodies of the classic reishi look.

When I have more time later I'll post some info on actual humidity levels, ect.

I left mine alone inside the growbags, never opened them once...   The antlers reached the air filter patch, then grew shelves through there...

Imo, the easiest mushroom tomgrow hands down

Good medicinal. Word of caution. Ganoderma spp. Have one of the highest spore loads in the mushroom kingdom. Even though you only have a few bags I would make sure there is proper ventilation for your lungs sake. Second, take precautions to keep the spores from germinating in your home. I recently tore appart a friends leeking doorway because she had oyster growing out of every crevice of the frame. Not an easy task to eliminate. On that note have fun. Mushrooms are awesome.
