AKA chocolate NOT coca :'( :'( ;D
::) Does anyone have experience growing cocoa?
(especially from seeds) ..please post any useful info.
..i have ordered a fresh cocoa pod from ebay 21$

Should not need to soak in water or anything. Remove the seed, clean off the junk as good as possible and sow in good soil. The plants sun burn very easily, so keep em in the shade.

What nobody said is spot-on. They love shade, especially so when they're young. When I was harvesting cacao pods back home (can't any more thanks to hurricane Irma), I noted that the plants did best when grown in the shade and that their leaves easily burnt when exposed to direct sun. As far as soil mixtures go for germination, I'd just look it up via a search engine or try to imitate the soil in Amazonas/Costa Rica.

PS: don't bother eating the seeds. They're nauseatingly bitter with only a hint of dark chocolate & coffee in the after taste

get a nice draining soil mix their roots don't like to sit wet/moist for long periods but they do like a lot of water.
