Does anyone on here know what temperature syrian rue plants are hardy to? I'm curious if they will be able to survive the winters here. I live in zone 8b. I haven't tried growing syrian rue for awhile and I do have some seeds laying around. The biggest one I've had was a little over a foot tall and bushing out pretty good until I left it in someone else's care and it was overwatered. I figure its about time to give it another try.

Net lore is all over the place saying its good down to 5a or only to zone 8
I live in zone 7a but last winter was more 7b, all mine survived great.
They are listed as noxious weeds colorado, virtually all of which is below 7a and most of which is 5 so I'm inclined to believe the 5a report
So in the ground your certainly safe temperature-wise

bury pot in ground for best of both worlds? :P
nah but it sounds like you could get away with a pot regardless.

So, make sure they are absolutely in containers. It makes sense they would thrive in my climate; they are from Iran, no?

Nah, they dont spread by roots. Plant them in the ground if you can, but not right on the property line.
The seeds wont generally move very far but you will want to be able to hoe out any that try to volunteer outside your rue bed.
