Title: Hello from Central Texas
Post by: Darwins Farm on June 15, 2017, 05:16:48 PM
Hello all. My name is Lucas. I live outside of Austin TX. I work at a garden center, some greenhouse work, some plant sales and consultations for a living.

This isn't my first membership. I've been on a handful of forums and regular member on a few invite only ones. Point being, I understand the etiquette expected of a new member and what you regulars do not want to see (I would assume). You won't get any BS from me.

I LOVE the concept. I have tried to trade plants on a few Facebook groups, including the Psychoactive Plants group. Every time I post a proposed trade I end just getting 10 people wanting to buy the plants from me instead of trade. I love the no selling rule.. It keeps this thing pure.

Anyway.. I'm primarily an entheogenic plant collector. Just an idea of what I have been propagating lately. (This is NOT a trade proposal, I am not full member yet).

Mitragyna Speciousa
- RIFAT
- Bumble Bee
- pink vein into
- green Malaysian

Salvia Divinorum
-Wasson

Caapi Vines
- Red
- Cielo
- White
- Tucanaca
- Black (not 100% positive this one really is Alicia A)

Seeds
TONS!
Many different Acacia
Yopo
Lophophora
Poppies

You get the picture..

I do have some non entheo.. I have a one off agave hybrid that no one can identify.. Very cool one. I have a Achmea Del Mar and have plans to expand my Aechmea collection.

I like philodendrons.. Other tropical.. Mainly a tropical guy.

Anyway.. Sorry to make such long intro. Thanks for approving my registration . Take care y'all.

Lucas

Welcome! Looks like a great collection! Can't wait to trade with you, I've been looking to expand my Acacia collection. I'm also interested in some Kratom and Yopo at some point.

I'm sure I can find something you're interested in. Although maybe not; Again, you've got an awesome collection!

Good to see some Texas folks on here! I live in DFW now, but am originally from that beautiful tourist trap between Austin and San Antonio. Still visit my parents down there every now and then.

Lots of floating the river, huh? I'm living in Red Rock. South of Bastrop about 25 mins. I was in S Austin for 10 years or so. We had to get out of the city and into some space. I am loving our little spot in the Piney woods. It's been a lot of work getting my gardens setup. Working on a new greenhouse. So much work to do.

I love Texas.. could never leave.

I love Acacia! I was just thumbing through some seed packs trying to decide what to start. They are great for trading too as they grow fairly quickly from seed.

We'll have to do some trading.. love the name too  :D

Yeah i started 6 each of Acacia auriculiformis, penninervis, and simplex(as well as 6 M. hostilis/tenuiflora and D. Lepto) last weekend, and 5/6 simplex and 3/6 auric. have sprouted. Penninervis is giving me some trouble though, I've never got one to sprout(unlike simplex and aruic, which I've just failed to keep alive. Damn spider mites/winter)

I tried something a little different with this recent round of M Speciosa cuttings.. it isn't going so well. They will all root but it is taking longer than my usual way. They are coming... just going to be a longer wait than expected.

I live in ATX and have a M. Speciosa in a grow tent that I want to move outside, but am worried about its hardiness here in Zone 8b, it's approx. 6 feet tall, any advice?

Oh yeah? You know the Sand Hills area? We are back in the sand hills.. Ive only been here a few years but I love it. Ive only met a few folks out here. Some really nice people but also some grumpy neighbors who appear to not like us for a reason ill probably never know.
Do you garden quite a bit in this area?
